In his workshops, Paul Davies will explore the role of sound design for film in conveying emotional narrative. He is particularly interested in the expressionistic use of atmospheres or backgrounds and their ability to convey emotion and the subjective experience of the film, suggesting they can be used in a similar fashion to the music score.
Drawing on examples from his 30+ year career, working with directors such as Lynne Ramsay, Steve McQueen, John Maybury and Rose Glass, Davies will explain the concept of subjective space in film. He’ll focus on how choices in sound design reflect the internal world of characters and what the audience is guided to hear, and the collaborative process with directors who are interested in the art of subjective filmmaking.

سيستكشف بول ديفيز في ورشة العمل التي يقدّمها تصميم الصوت في الأفلام ودوره في نقل السرد العاطفيّ إلى المشاهدين، وذلك في ضوء اهتمامه الخاصّ بالاستخدام التعبيريّ للأجواء والخلفيّات وقدرتهما على نقل المشاعر والتجربة الذاتيّة للفيلم، طارحًا إمكانيّة استخدامهما بطريقةٍ مشابهةٍ للموسيقى التصويريّة.
وانطلاقًا من مسيرته المهنيّة التي تمتدّ لأكثر من ثلاثين عامًا، مسيرةٌ عمل خلالها مع مخرجين مثل لين رامزي وستيف ماكوين وجون ميبري وروز غلاس، سيشرح بول ديفيز للحضور مفهوم الفضاء الذاتي في الفيلم. وسيركّز على كيفية انعكاس خيارات تصميم الصوت على العالم الداخليّ للشخصيّات وعلى ما يسمعه المشاهدون، فضلًا عن تطرّقه إلى عملية التعاون مع المخرجين المهتمّين بفنّ صناعة الأفلام الذاتيّة.
Paul Davies graduated from the sound department of the U.K.'s leading film school the National Film and Television School in 1993 he has nearly 40 years of Industry experience working as a Supervising Sound Editor and Sound Designer. تخرّج بول دايفز عام 1993 في قسم الصوت بالمدرسة الوطنيّة للسينما والتلفزيون، وهي المدرسة السينمائيّة الرائدة في المملكة المتّحدة، وله خبرة تقارب الأربعين عامًا في هذا المجال. كما أنّه قد عمل مشرفًا على مونتاج الصوت ومصممًا للصوت في أعمال مختلفة. ومن أعماله: Ratcatcher، We Need to Talk About Kevin، You Were Never Really Here، Kinky Boots، Mrs. Henderson Presents، The Queen، The Salisbury Poisonings، Saint Maud.
