80-year-old interpreter Ali Ungár travels to Vienna in search of the former SS officer who might have executed his parents in Slovakia. He finds only his son Georg, a bon vivant retiree who has distanced himself from his father’s past. But Ali’s visit awakens his interest, and the two men take off on a journey across Slovakia in search of surviving witnesses of the wartime tragedy.

Ali Ungár, un interprète âgé de 80 ans, part à Vienne à la recherche d’un ancien officier SS qui aurait peut-être exécuté ses parents en Slovaquie. Incapable de le trouver, il tombe toutefois sur son fils Georg, un bon vivant retraité qui s’est démarqué du passé de son père. Mais la visite d’Ali intrigue Georg et les deux hommes se mettent en route pour un voyage à travers la Slovaquie afin de retrouver les témoins ayant survécu la tragédie de la guerre.
