يسعى المخرج من خلال هذا الفيلم إلى محاولة فهم الحروب (العائليّة/ الأهليّة)، وكيف نستخدم فيها أنفسنا كأداة عقاب وانتقام من بعضنا البعض. هو مشوار عائلي للبحث عن الشجاعة اللازمة لمواجهة الواقع العصيب، وعن السبل التي يمكن أن نسلكها نحو المصالحة بعيداً عن "الخراب". حين قرر المخرج التعرف على والدته الحقيقية والبحث في ماضيه العائلي، انقلبت أحوال الجميع، وبدا أن محاولته لفهم الماضي ليست سوى عمليّة تخريب للواقع الحالي.

Through this film, the director seeks to understand wars (civil/familial), and how we use ourselves as tools for punishment and revenge against each other within them. It is a family’s journey in search of the necessary courage to confront harsh reality and ways to reconcile beyond destruction. When the director decided to get to know his birth mother, and look into his family’s past, everyone’s situation was flipped upside down, and it was as if his attempt to understand the past was nothing but the destruction of the current reality.

وائل قدلو

مخرج وممثّل من مواليد دمشق، سوريا في العام 1980. حصل على إجازةٍ  في اللغة الفرنسية وآدابها من جامعة دمشق في العام 2007.  بدأ قدلو حياته المهنية كممثلٍ مسرحي أثناء دراسته الجامعية، كما شارك في عددٍ من المسرحيات المستقلة. شارك قدلو في عددٍ من ورشات العمل في الإخراج والمونتاج والتصوير السينمائي. وفي هذه الأثناء، كان قدلو يعمل باستمرار على أفلامه الخاصة، وآخرها "طريق البيت".

Wael Kadlo

A Syrian filmmaker who was born in Damascus, Syria in 1980. He graduated with a degree in French Literature from the University of Damascus in 2007. Kadlo started his career as a theatre actor during his university years and also took part in a number of independent plays. Following that, he participated in a number of workshops in directing, editing and cinematography. Meanwhile, Kadlo has been working continuously on his own films, the latest of which is The Way Home.
