In the 1950s, Saïd Effendi, a schoolteacher, moves with his family to a new home in a modest neighborhood of Baghdad after being forced by his landlord to vacate his previous house. In his new residence, Saïd Effendi faces social challenges with his neighbor, Abdullah the cobbler. Conflicts arise between their children, leading to escalating tensions between the families. As the problems intensify, Saïd Effendi himself faces a difficult challenge: achieving balance between raising his children and maintaining good relations with his neighbors and not resorting to violence.

في خمسينيات القرن الماضي، ينتقل سعيد أفندي، وهو معلم مدرسة، مع عائلته إلى منزل جديد في حي شعبي متواضع في بغداد، بعد أن اضطر لإخلاء منزله السابق بأمر من المالك. في مسكنه الجديد، يواجه سعيد تحديات اجتماعية مع جاره عبد الله الإسكافي. تنشأ صراعات بين أطفال العائلتين، مما يؤدي إلى تصاعد التوتر بينهما. ومع تفاقم المشكلات، يجد سعيد نفسه أمام تحد صعب: تحقيق توازن بين تربية أطفاله والحفاظ على علاقات طيبة مع جيرانه دون اللجوء إلى العنف.

This film was restored as part of the Iraqi Cinematheque Project, supported by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with the Al-Hasan Ibn Al-Haytham Committee for Iraqi Visual Memory – Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister. The 4K restoration was completed in 2025 by the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) from the original 35mm negative image and 35mm optical sound print.
