On the hills of Tangier stands the decrepit house of La Mansouria, home to Lina, her father Anis, her grandmother Amina, and the "good" Chinwiya. When Amina pushes a real estate deal that would make the family billionaires, Anis refuses, giving up his share to build a bird refuge instead. Then an unexplained fire breaks out in the hills, and it rains birds over the forest.
