“Who was Here?” is an experimental micro-historical documentary that delves into the processing of personal archives and testimonies assisted - during different stages of the production - by artificial intelligence tools and softwares.
Having trained an AI program with transcribed interviews and archival material from her father’s childhood and adolescence—a period that coincided with the rise of the Greek military junta—the director starts a conversation with the language model, as she is looking for help in her attempt to fill the gaps and inconsistencies she has detected in her family history. The unpredictable turns in their dialogue will paint in an even clearer light the fragile nature of historical truth and highlight the new threats that this notion is facing in the post-human technological age.
Who was Here?” is a film about memory, the transmission of generational trauma, and microhistorical narratives in the artificial intelligence era.

«من كان هنا؟» هو فيلم وثائقي تجريبي تاريخي جزئي يعالج مسألة الأرشيفات والشهادات الشخصية بمساعدة أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي خلال مراحل مختلفة من الإنتاج.
بعد أن درّبت المخرجة برنامج ذكاء اصطناعي على مقابلات مكتوبة ومواد أرشيفية من طفولة والدها ومراهقته، أي الفترة التي تزامنت مع صعود الديكتاتورية العسكرية اليونانية، تبدأ المخرجة حوارًا مع هذا البرنامج، باحثةً عن أجوبة لملء الفراغات والتناقضات التي اكتشفتها في تاريخ عائلتها. وفي هذا الحوار، تظهر بشكل واضح الطبيعة الهشة للحقيقة التاريخية وتتبين التهديدات الجديدة التي تواجه هذا المفهوم في عصر التكنولوجيا بعد الإنسانية.
«من كان هنا؟» هو فيلم عن الذاكرة، والصدمات المنقولة عبر الأجيال، وسرديات التاريخ الجزئي في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي.

About Evi Stamou
Evi Stamou is an awarded video artist, filmmaker, film curator and researcher of new media based in Athens. She studied political economy at Athens University of Economics and Business, filmmaking at the Hellenic Cinema Television School Stavrakos and holds an MA at Cultural Informatics and Communication (specializing at Documentary Production) from the University of the Aegean. In her artistic practice, she studies the relation and aesthetic boundaries between the traditional cinematic forms and the evolving approaches of modern art, focusing on using the new types of media offered by the constantly emerging technologies in the field of video.
Her works have been selected to participate in international film festivals, video art festivals and contemporary art exhibitions in Greece and abroad, as well as in independent art spaces and galleries in Greece, USA (New York - Chicago), Brazil, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia and China.
إيفي ستامو فنانة فيديو وصانعة أفلام ومنسّقة أفلام وباحثة في وسائط الإعلام الجديدة، تسكن حاليًا في أثينا، وقد نالت عدة جوائز. درست الاقتصاد السياسي في جامعة أثينا للاقتصاد وإدارة الأعمال، وصناعة الأفلام في مدرسة "ستافراكوس" اليونانية للسينما والتلفزيون، وتحمل درجة ماجستير في المعلوماتية الثقافية والاتصال مع تخصّص في إنتاج الفيلم الوثائقي من جامعة إيجة. في ممارستها الفنية، تدرس العلاقة والحدود الجمالية بين الأشكال السينمائية التقليدية والمقاربات المتطوّرة للفن الحديث، مع تركيز خاص على استخدام الأنواع الجديدة من الوسائط التي تتيحها التقنيات المتجددة باستمرار في مجال الفيديو.
تم اختيار أعمالها للمشاركة في مهرجانات سينمائية دولية، ومهرجانات فن الفيديو، ومعارض للفن المعاصر في اليونان وخارجها، إضافة إلى فضاءات فنية مستقلة وصالات عرض في اليونان والولايات المتحدة (نيويورك وشيكاغو) والبرازيل وبولندا وأيرلندا وإيطاليا وإسبانيا والبرتغال وإندونيسيا والصين.
