30th EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL IN LEBANON POSTER EXHIBITION
CALL GUIDELINES
INTRODUCTION
The European Film Festival in Lebanon, organized by the European Delegation in Lebanon and the Member States of the European Union, in partnership with the Metropolis Association, is launching a public call targeting visual artists, graphic designers and illustrators to reinterpret artworks of acclaimed European films.
The selected artworks will participate in a special Poster Exhibition organized in the framework of the 30th edition of the European Film Festival in Lebanon.
ABOUT THE EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL
Now celebrating its 30th edition, the European Film Festival stands as a statement of commitment, dialogue and a belief in cinema as a shared cultural language. Three decades on, the festival continues to exist and grow despite ongoing challenges, holding its place as a cultural pioneer within an ever-shifting landscape. For thirty years, the festival has carried stories across borders, languages and generations, reminding us that cinema endures not only through time, but through people, audiences, filmmakers and emerging Lebanese talents, who continue to gather, grow, watch and imagine together.
Building on the success of the film poster exhibition organized in 2019 for the 25th edition of the European Film Festival in Lebanon, this 30th edition will feature a new Poster Exhibition through an open call. We invite visual artists, graphic designers, and illustrators to create original reinterpretations of posters from acclaimed European films. Up to 20 posters will be selected by a committee and will be presented during the festival. The exhibition aims to highlight the art of film poster design as a powerful creative and narrative tool, allowing artists to express their personal vision of a film.
Each artist is encouraged to bring their own interpretation, message, and aesthetic. While artistic freedom is central to the project, participants should keep in mind that film posters follow certain established conventions (such as the presence of the film title). As this exhibition is part of a European Film Festival, diversity in the countries and films represented is essential, reflecting the richness and plurality of European cinema.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The call is open to visual artists, graphic designers and illustrators interested in film, and residing in Lebanon. Each participant can submit only one (1) poster reinterpretation.
All posters must be submitted electronically by midnight, April 20, 2026 with an optional brief narrative description (maximum half a page).
